what’s wrong with this picture

I think it is outrages that for both it’s terms the Government of the day can justify
their hefty 9% to 40% raise the give to top government jobs cause they claim it
is needed to attract the best and brightest.  For one they do not need to attract
people already working for the BC government.  Their will never be a shortage
of people willing to work for the government given the job security.  What about
all the healthcare workers that had a 15% pay cut, and the teachers that were
told last fall no you can’t have a 25% raise.  Is the government not worried
about attracting the best teachers or hospital clerks.  The top pay for deputy ministers
is $160 000 a year and when you multiple that by the 100 deputy ministers we
have according to Paul Wilcox’s ( Aug 5th Vic Times Colonist)editorial
that’s $16 million.  Although that may be small potatoes for BC’s budget the real question is why do we have more deputy ministers than mlas for BC.  Better still, why do we need unelected unaccountable deputy ministers at all?  The elected ministers and mlas should be making the controversial decisions not the unelected deputies.  If they are so bright why do we have longer
healthcare lineups, and who thought  it was a bright idea to close jails and eight
courthouses.  If they are so bright who thought we should sell BC rail for half it’s
book value, leading to all the derailments since.  When Dave Barret’s government
was in office there weren’t deputy ministers just ministers.
